April 26 : With a huge push from Hekate, I got a firepit.  I've been wanting one for years.  It's not a fancy one, just a $50 one, just to see if we like it.  If we do, then we'll budget for a better one.  Before our first burn, I'm going to dedicate it to my Hearth Kindreds, whom are: Hestia Vesta Vestals Hekate Brigid Frigg Freyja Loki Baba Yaga Tomten Nisser Agathos Daimon The Disir Unnamed House Spirits As well as my fire starting and tending tools.  I think I may bless some oil and lightly anoint the bowl of the pit.  Once the wood is burning, then pour some as offering. Intense dream this morning: Hubs and I went to a ritual by Byron Ballard. She was dressed like a whimsical dancer. She moved and instructed and many of us in the audience started to dance with her. Hubs stayed in the back, but I joined, entranced. Then Byron would single people out and give them a command, which involved doing something friendly to another dancer. When people did, we celebrated. Reminded me of Jester's and mischievous Fae. Joyful. Soon a whimsical costume would appear on that person. When it came to me, Byron told me to kiss a handsome guy with a round face and short brown hair. He was cute, but I said no because I didn't know him (it had nothing to do with my husband). Byron responded silently, disappointed. Blessed Full Moon!  I've been wanting to do some spellwork lately but haven't had the energy for it.  Full moons either drain me or energize me, and so far, I've been pretty neutral.  I had a busy weekend with both sides of the family--one gathering triggered a panic attack in the early morning and the other, I was glutened by coleslaw from Kroger.  Coleslaw is supposed to be safe--I've been gluten-free since 2019?  And I know to check the ingredients of foods that are supposed to be safe.  I especially hate eating at restaurants because they always be adding wheat fillers to foods that aren't supposed to have wheat.  Like IHOP adds wheat to their omlets, or they use to--we haven't eaten there in a couple of years.  I know to check...   Saturday evening was rough--my gluten/celiac reactions can last anywhere from a few hours to a few days.  I'm glad that I didn't eat too much.  Normally I'm pretty careful--checking all of the l...

I’ve been reading Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer, and yesterday’s chapters were heavy about Reciprocity - a concept that’s already a big part of my spirituality, and even bigger in ADF Druidry. Reciprocity - Ghosti - Hospitality - Gebo - Exchange - Gift for Gift - Never Taking More Than You Need - Giving Back - Energy Exchange. Giving because it’s right. Giving because it’s kind. Giving in gratitude. Not expecting anything back, no eye for an eye, and definitely not to gloat or for performance. Giving from the heart. Today is a full moon. And each moon I have certain sacral and pastoral duties to perform. I’ve taken the month’s offerings outside for the Kindreds (Ancestors, Nature Spirits, Godden) and Spirits All. I always bring extra cornmeal for the Nature Spirits—fresh offerings for allowing me to do my work. Later I’ll also be making cornmeal porridge for the House Spirits and Guardians, and giving blood to Freyja, my Gyðia Seiðkona spirit guide, and to my Spirit Stick....

Crazy energies out there today, eh? After talking to a student of mine, I've also noticed that there's been an increase in spirit activity, too.  I've noticed that spirit activity usually amps up around May 1st and November 1st.  Energies ebb and flow, sometimes those spirit waves rise and fall at other times, too.  Sometimes random, sometimes not.   All March long, I've been seeing and hearing more and more spirits than normal.  They're not spirits that I know.  I think some of them are Nature Spirits, which can be rather nomadic.  I'm not worried about their intentions, because I have layers of protection on my home and a great relationship with my House Spirits and Guardians.  They wouldn't just let anyone into the house.  The Gods might, They like to test me from time to time. Something that I won a few days ago on my private profile from The Hellenic Handmaid : This set of beautiful, quality Greek Alphabet Oracle !  I really love the design font of each letter, too. On this beautiful Full Moon, I've cleansed them, and Hekate claimed them right away as Hers.  So they are!   I'm about to do my very first draw with this set.  With most divination tools, I like to do a little interview.  Asking how their personality is, is it a gentle tool or a blunt tool, and what it speciality is--what questions or subjects are best to ask.  But this set doesn't want me to ask any of those questions, and I think it's because Hekate has claimed them.   Makes sense.  I already know Her.  In my family, we celebrate the High Days for three days.  Yesterday we saved a Gray Treefrog from a scorching death, we had Bdubs for dinner, and we caught lightning bugs in the evening.  We have more planned this weekend. A Gray Treefrog I didn't know we had Treefrogs in Ohio This little dude was green with yellow on its legs, and kind of reminded me of the throw that I'm working on. I'm also participating in a Make-a-Long in a fiber artist Facebook Group by Devin Hunter and Arin Murphy-Hiscock called  Fiber Spirit .  The MAL is focusing on Manifest, thus whatever we're making has to manifest something.  It started yesterday and ends on August 1st. I got some yarn from a friend a couple of weeks ago and it had 6 crocheted patches in it.  So I made more, with the intention of having Sunna bless it on the Summer Solstice with the overflowing positive energies of joy, good health, and abundance.  Each piece was made with those intentions.  Yes...

 March 6th is the Full Moon and on my spiritual path, it's also the Epopteia (Eh-pop-te-ah), which is a Greek word meaning " the fiery vision of Persephone returning from the Underworld " or so I've been taught.  Some odd years ago, I was a Hellenic Polytheist for a few years, and this is another one of those half inspired by an existing holy time, half UPG.  I don't know that there is an "official" Epopteia, or like the Flamma Vesta, if it was just a term that I loved and felt that it fit.  Bad memory combined with not being able to find my Hellenic Polytheism binders at the moment.     The Epopteia has a sister holy day in September, Persephone's Descent.  In September, either on the Dark/Full Moon or on the Fall Equinox, Persephone returns to the Underworld.  Either on March's Full Moon or Spring Equinox, She leaves Hades for 6 months, flowers in Her steps, joining Her power with many other Spring Entities.  Why the moon issue?  ...

Whew this week has been rough on many people, myself included. Dealing with depression yuck. I hope it was easier on yall, though. I hope yall had necessary support and healthy coping methods. Yes, even the regular department store-bought stuff.   This morning, I got up and made a Laguz music list, comprise of soothing rain, stream, and whale songs. Laguz is the Elder Futhark rune of water and flow.  I got a big cup of hot water and added epsom salts to it, then I drew and sang three runes over the water. Laguz (lah-gooz), Kenaz (ken-ahz), Berkana (bear-kahn-nah). Water, Fire, Earth. Cleansing, Purification, Healing.   I also asked for additional blessing over this water from my Gods and Ancestors, asking Them to add anything else They feel that I needed.  No, you don't need to be any kind of clergy or a seasoned practitioner to ask for help ...

After seeing Byron Ballard's warning for the next 48 hours  last night, I grounded myself between earth and universe, Gods and humans--the liminal. I plunged my energy roots deep and wide, so that no storm could knock me down. I connected with my new home and the land and the stars (I can see the stars now!). I went outside and looked up into the bright round moon, perfectly framed by three tree branches. Sister Moon, how long has it been since I've simply gone outside and gazed? Opened myself to your energies? Too long. I charged my shields, my husband's and children's shields, our home, vehicle, and property shields.
