Ursadeity: A Message

Aug 27, 2025: I’ve been reading a book called Where the Spirits Ride the Wind: Trance Journeys and Other Ecstatic Experiences by Felicitas D. Goodman. The author and her group explored trance through postures. I’ve been experimenting with ecstatic postures since 2020, I think? I believe during that year, a local group starting having online sessions on Facebook Live—I think they were called the Mud Lotus Project? Although I could have that confused with my favorite Thich Nhat Hanh book No Mud, No Lotus (before 2020 I also had a wordpress called From the Mud—between the similarities and a bad memory, I can’t remember). Anyway, not the point! In that group, a elderly woman would talk about a pose and deity, teach us how to do it, and then start a simple ritual and rattle us into our trances. After reading this book, I wonder if the lady from that group has read it, or perhaps even worked with Goodman? Goodman lived in Columbus, Ohio (the group was also in Columbus). In th...

Box Heads

" Limiting boxes of belief. Humans look so silly walking around with boxes on their heads. Blinded, walking into walls ." - This mornings wisdom from Loki. I was in a forum this morning, and someone said that because they weren’t part of a certain lineage, there was no way a certain deity would contact them. I—who am definitely not part of that lineage—have had experiences with the same deity. So I asked them, “why not?” Who told you that? A controlling human? The Gods are gonna contact who They want, regardless of human rules and wants. No human owns the Gods , that defeats what They are . Otherworldly, supernatural, super powerful beings that many worship, serve, and are devoted to. Yet…a specific group owns them and thus control who They can and can’t contact? What? Makes absolute perfect sense . Are the Gods real or not? Are They individuals? Do They have free-will and agency? Or are They just collectibles for your fragile ego? So Loki chimed in with His wisdom...

Nature Spirits

On June 20th, I came across a post by Morgan Daimler called 7 Tips to Spotting Misleading Fairy Claims . Good post, Morgan knows her stuff. I just got to thinking about Nature Spirits. Which is a general term that I use for the various types. Some are called fae, others called landwights or landvaettir, Jotun, nymphs, satyrs, dryads, and a whole host of other cultural names. Being eclectic, I have entities from all over the place—different parts of the world, different cultures, etc. It’s just easier to be general with Nature Spirits. Even They’ve said that the name doesn’t always matter. They are what They are. Like Morgan says, they’re not all all cutesy, nice, or just waiting around for a human to come by for blessings or even malice. There’s a lot of different ones out there, of all shapes and sizes (I’ve seen tiny and colossal ones), personalities, agendas, temperaments. Some want to hurt you. Some don’t like humans for whatever reason, nor do they have to. Some, y...

Happy World Bee Day!

It’s one of my favorite  secular days of the year . It’s a day to educate oneself about the world’s pollinators and their importance—I don’t just focus on honey bees, they have another day on August 17th (the others probably have their own days, too). I also celebrate Honey Bees on August 1st. Today is a great day to: Learn about all of the different pollinators in the world—bees, wasps, bats, moths, butterflies, etc. Plant some pollinator friendly plants, preferably plants that are local to your area. Eat some honey foods and beverages, fruits, and edible flowers. A favorite kid friendly beverage my family has is Fairy Milk—the recipe I use is warm milk, cinnamon, and honey. Favorite adult bev is mead. Or we may just have a simple piece of bread with honey on it, or something more elaborate like honey cake. Learn about the history and medicinal properties of honey. Read. There’s a lot of books about pollinators, from childrens to scholarly; scientific and spiritual. Some bo...
