Come On Out and Celebrate with Us This Sunday!

This Sunday, I'm hosting a Fall Equinox ritual and potluck with a local group, Pagans of Delaware County ; it's open to others, too! The goal is community building. Be you in Delaware County, Ohio or not, come on out and meet new people, on Sunday, September 24th, 2-5pm. The location will either be at Delaware State Park OR Andrews House. I will finalize the details on Friday. This ritual is inspired by a children's book called 'The Fox and the Falling Leaves' by Julia Rawlinson. I'm going to hand out wooden leaves and acorns to each person, and talk about the beauty of letting go, but also how release takes time, effort, patience, support, and courage. I'm hoping to have a fire to burn the wooden leaves and for each person to just sit and reflect (depending on our location, of course).   I'll ask that participants keep the acorns blank, as they represent potential and result, and will take time to decorate. It's also about releasing expectations of

Ancestral Shrine

Tis the time of the year when spirits get really active for some people (another super active time might be in May--for some of us it doesn't really stop). It's a great time to set up an Ancestral Altar, if you'd like to. Not everyone needs/wants to venerate their ancestors and that's fine, too. Plus, some ancestors don't deserve to be honored imo (maybe not forgotten--make notes of the shit person they were, so a descendant doesn't end up naming their kid after them). If you'd like to, you can leave it up all year if you want/can, too, or take it out on birth/death days or other special days. Our Ancestral Altar lives in a hutch that I inherited from one of my grandmothers. Inside you'll find photos, notes, letters, trinkets, fossils, maps, family trees, photo albums, money, pendulum, offerings, and prayers for Ancestors of Blood and Spirit, our pets, and strangers/acquaintances who've had an impact on us in one way or another (like David Bowie, Fre

Hestia, Dionysus & Mythology

Anetteprs Illustrations' Hestia Hail Hestia! She was one of my first deities, and revealed Herself to me when I was very young. She is one of my Spiritual Mothers and I am one of Her priestesses. And I really love this depiction of Her (I adore this artists' work. Go check out their website !).  So beautiful. If you click on the link and read what the artist wrote about Hestia, she writes a little bit of myth by Robert Graves about Hestia giving up her spot on Mount Olympus for Dionysus.  Personal Opinion Time and no shade is being thrown at the artist, this is a common myth that some accept, some don't.  I don't like Robert Graves. Do I see this myth as a literal thing?  No.  I do not take myths literally; in my experience there are huge differences between real entities and myth entities.  Often time, myth entities are just characters in a story, a piece of fanfiction.  They are stories written by humans with their own agendas: lessons, entertainment, fearmongering,

Long Time, No Post!

Still around.  I've been adjusting to all of my kids starting school this year, and trying to find a new norm for my day.  I have two events coming up in October where Hearth Fox Oracle will be vending and reading at, so I've been working on building stock and on new products.  I also joined a Druid fellowship called Ar nDraiocht Fein in July, so I've been busy studying and working on essays and such...or I was doing all of that !  I hurt my knee in July and again in August, and gradually the pain has been getting worse.  I went to Urgent Care and to an orthopedic doctor, and my insurance says that I need to have a month of physical therapy before I can get an MRI to see what the problem is, or they won't pay for anything.  So although I'm pain that's getting worse everyday I have my appointment and I'm actually kind of looking forward to learn physical therapy techniques.  I'm taking anti-histamines that are working better, OTC pain killers, OTC lidoca
