August 4, 2026 - Honeysweet Altar Last night's ritual and omen went pretty smoothly!  The only issue that I really had was with the omen.  Channeling Apollo, I suddenly couldn't read.  I could read the cards and the keywords, but I couldn't read the card meanings in the book.  It was just letters in groupings--you know, words.  I couldn't read them.   I also struggled with the Five of Jars--which the artwork makes it pretty simple, plus I've been reading tarot for 10 years, and last night I couldn't figure out what it meant.  Ace of Swords, too.  It was bizarre.  After I put the book down--which a quiet Apollo suggested that I grab--then I had a BINGO moment.  Tonight at 10pm, on zoom , I'm doing my Midsummer Honeysweet Ritual for Virtual Fire Proto-Grove .  We'll be honoring Bees and Apollo.   The working is a Gratitude Jar and starting to fill it with good things that can sustain you through your dark times and/or SAD, as sweet nourishing honey sustains bees through the cold months. For it you'll need: -A jar, a little box, an envelope, or crochet a hive or a hive cell pouch. This will be your Gratitude Hive to store your honeysweets. -Paper -Something to write with -Draw a Hexagon–6 sided shape–a hive cell. Make it large enough to write or draw inside of it. -Start thinking about things that bring you joy, healing, hope, courage, strength, and peace.  Last night, I performed my first ritual with Virtual Fire Proto-Grove, ADF: Honeysweet, a ritual that honors Bee and Agricultural entities, as well as the sweetness in our lives.  What a perfect ritual to be my first, since it was my first personal ADF-style ritual that I performed when I joined ADF in July of 2023. For this ritual, a new-to-me Deity named Austeja--a Baltic Bee Goddess--offered to come through to give the omen.  "Coming through" meaning consensual possession.  To what level of that possession I didn't know, but I gave attendees a heads up.  Sometimes it's light, like a channeling, and other times it's full on heavy, like a complete take over. August 22, 2021: This is a spell that was taught to me by my ancestors, using rum. Last night's ritual was all about Artemis and the Bee Entities known as The Melissae (may-lease-ah), so instead of using rum I used mead. This is a spell meant for quick success, so it's important that your honey be more liquid than a solid. You want the sweet things to happen fast, not slow. Materials: - Honey Drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) - Paper - Writing Utensil - Cup or a shot glass - Small Bowl - Coins 1) First, make a sigil. A sigil is a symbol charged with intention. There are no hard rules about how to make a sigil or what it should look like. I like to make mine using letters, symbols, and runes, but for this spell, I just used letters.
