Galdr and Modern Medicine

The night before we left for our out-of-state trip, my eldest comes to us with a friend.  The friend was there to make sure my son told us about an infection on his leg.  An infection he didn't tell us about because he was trying to take care of it himself...with soap and bandaids.  He said it was a bug bite.  He and I are both really allergic to flea and mosquito bites--they turn into blisters and blister clusters.  That's what I saw on his leg.  Big nasty blister clusters.  I told him to wash it with dawn dish soap, and then we treated it with alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, and neosporin, and bandaged it up.  I gave him an ibuprofen and had him elevate and ice his leg for that swelling.   He was embarrassed, and I told him not to be.  I taught him the appropriate steps to take, and I made a note that included these steps for the kids and put it in our First Aid cabinet, as well as in big letters TELL MOM AND DAD, DON'T HANDLE A...

Some Quick Storm Protection Magic

On Tuesday night we had a strong violent storm blow through.  Hard heavy rain that might have been hail--I couldn't tell because it was too dark.  Normally, when I'm aware of severe storms heading towards us, I petition the Storm and Home Kindreds for protection.  But on Tuesday, I was focused on photo albums.  It wasn't until the hard rain and loud thunder hit that I realized what kind of storm we were dealing with.   I gave offerings and then I faced the strong storm slamming our trailer.  I quickly grounded and centered myself and locked in.  Hands up, I felt the shield around our home, and I also tapped into the storms energy.   I galdred the runes of Thurisaz, Othala, and Algiz.  Thor, Home, Protection.   Then I said, " Kindreds and Spirits with our best interests at heart, I ask for protection over my family, our guest, our pets, and our home from this storm.  As it is asked, as it is willed. So shall it b...

Rabbit Rabbit!

If you do prosperity magiks today, here's your reminder! March 1st used to be a pretty significant day on my path. Thanks to Debra Macleod’s New Vesta Tradition, this day used to be the Flamma Vesta (I believe it’s also the Roman New Year). It was a day to honor the Roman Vesta and Her Priestesses, the Vestals. It was a day of purification and renewal of shrines and candles. A rededication of myself as a Vestal. A day of house cleaning and family bonding—immortal and mortal family. But…I already had a day like the Flamma Vesta. Well, days. The Vestalia in June (7th-15th, or sometimes just the 9th, depending on my spoons). The only thing that’s different is the Priestess rededication, which I’ve added to the Vestalia. Every 1st of the month, I also honor Vestia, aka Hestia-Vesta. (Over the course of last year, Their names fused into one, so I didn’t fight it.) And as an ADF Hearth Keeper, I’m already a Flame Keeper for my Hearth Mothers and Spirits. AND in February I joined a Flame ...
