Persephone's Descent Ritual Reflection: A Ritual with Neurodivergence and a Message from Persephone

On September 16th, 2025, I performed a Fall Equinox ritual for my druid grove honoring Persephone and Her Return to the Underworld. The focus that I wanted to have was a “moment without sorrow”. Day of, I was struggling with my Au-ADHD—some days are better than others and the 16th was just ugh. That lying bitch Anxiety was just doing just that—being a lying bitch. I love writing and performing rituals despite my neurodivergencies, such as autism (which I’m only self diagnosed for the time being), ADHD, and dyslexia. But because of those divergences, sometimes I get nervous about messing up—even though there’s nothing wrong with messing up during ritual, I do it every time. It’s just the nature of the beast, and my Kindreds have never got upset with me. Just is, you know? I’m human, not perfect. But on Tuesday, Anxiety was just being bitchy, making me all nervous and stuff. There weren’t even any strangers! Perhaps because Persephone’s Descent is one of my favorite rituals...

Judgy Writers

You know what I’m not enjoying about Substack—the ablism and classism. Knowing the difference in spelling between there, they’re, and their isn’t a sign of intelligence or kindness or anything. I have dyslexia. I know grammar rules and spelling, yet I have to rely on programs to not get torn apart by grammar assholes on the internet who would think me dumb and unworthy of writing, period. Guess what? The AI and programs ain’t perfect either. They still miss mistakes and get things wrong, sometimes they don’t even provide correct spellings at all. Sometimes the suggestions from the programs make no damn sense. Also not all word to text programs are that great either. We can’t all afford the “perfect” ones to please yall’s sophisticated palates. Sometimes I don’t want to use the programs, because I don’t want to sound like a robot or like everyone else. I want to read/sound like me—I tend to write how I speak. There are many reasons why someone might not have the best grammar, like maybe...

Book Review: Good Different

Good Different by Meg Eden Kuyatt .  I read this book yesterday, from cover to cover, in a about 1-2 hours.  It's a story that's written in poems.  It's about a teen named Selah who's different and has a List of How to Be Normal and wears a Normal-Person Mask.  As the school year progresses, she ends up learning that she's not damaged or dangerous, instead she's autistic.  She becomes empowered by this truth and uses her poetry to educate her family and school. She also loves dragons.  When I was reading the beginning of the book, I kept thinking to my old love of dragons, too.  When I was a kid/teen/young adult, I loved dragons.  They were my travel companions.  Anytime I'd get in the car, I'd look out the window and seeing a world of dragon and the human living and coexisting with them.  Dragons of all different shapes and sizes.   I had names and species information about them all. I'd draw them in notebooks and wri...
