Divine Reactivity

Today I sat outside in the sun.  For about a month, I've been working on turning my pastey white skin tan...or trying to.  Once the lake water is warm enough to swim, I'm going to be spending a lot of time there, and I'd rather not turn into a lobster.  Anywho, when I do go outside, I greet Sunna, set an intention, set a timer on my phone, and either meditate/trance or read.  Today I chose to read: Edda by Snorri Sturluson.  Not my favorite author, but an important one to read (I'd rather be reading Dr Jackson Crawford's translations of Snorri).  I'm familiar with the stories and mythology, as it would seem that every author who writes about Norse Paganism and Magik has to talk about the mythology.  Can't have one without the other, which is kind of annoying to be honest.  But, hey, makes a book go faster when you're skipping parts that you've read multiple times. As I sat there, soaking up Sunna's rays with the intention of healing and protecti...

Other Clergy

I'm reading Morgan Daimler's post: Being in Service to the Other and having some thoughts about my own clergy path.  So far I've only read Part 1, but in it she talks about the difference between Serving the Community and Serving the Other.   In January 2022, I was ordained by my Gods to serve Them and the Other.  From there I launched my search for ethical, legit pagan clergy courses and programs, because I wanted to learn how to be an efficient, legal, and ethical pagan clergy member for my communities.  For the most part, I had the sacerdotal stuff done, but I needed more education and training for my human communities. My Gods said that wasn't necessary to serve the Other.  I already had the knowledge, skill, and training to serve Them.  They didn't care about the pastoral work. I was Their Priestess, Their Oracle, Their Seidkona. Yes, but to deliver Their message more effectively, I felt that I needed to learn how to work with people bet...

Spiritual Discomfort

Happy Belated Mothers Day to those who observe.  My weekend was pretty nice.  On Saturday, we had finally had a nice, dry--but windy--weekend day.  So I tried out an pop up tent that I got for visiting the lake beach.  It's big!  It'll totally fits our cooler, stuff, and the 4-5 of us.  It's short, so I can't stand in it, but that's fine.  I got it to keep our stuff somewhat secured and to give us a break from the sun to rest, eat, and hydrate.  Our cooler will be heavy enough to keep it from blowing away--I have long tent pegs, I just don't know if they'll work in sand.  I'll try those out, too.  My midkid also has big rocks that we can try, too.  Now to have more warm days so the lake gets to comfortable swimming temps. I also thought I had trouble getting up from the ground, turns out that I can get up from the earth just fine.  It's hard man-made surfaces that I struggle with.  Hurts my knees.  No give.  Wher...

Beauties

I was just reading The Ripening by Serena of Runes and Roses , and had a realization. In their post, Serena said that Freyja loves beauty and jewelry. Like most things in life, Beauty is highly subjective. Normally when one thinks of beauty, depending on their culture/society/family/individuality they may think of symmetrical faces, cosmetics, expensive clothing, thin bodies, feminine clothing, etc. But beauty is subjective. I think of those things, too, but also other things, like minute details that others may not notice, certain colors, a sprouting plant, a decaying animal, a loving birth, the dying cared for by loved ones, "tribal" style, bohemian style, gritty witchcraft, goth, aesthetic witchcraft, lace, and many other things. Youngest's Little Plant, May 1, 2026 Actions, too. Beauty isn't just the physical. Kindness, compassion, and bravery are beautiful to me. The pure joy on people's faces. My children's laughter, as cliche as that is. Com...

One of Hers

While working on a post for Freyja yesterday, I ended up channeling Her: " Too much posturing. Not enough practicing. Witchcraft is not a competition. It's not about likes and followers. It's about doing the fucking work and making changes. Why do you think so many witches of the past were alone--can't focus if you're squabbling like hens over the last scrap of food. Build your communities, but don't forget what a witch is supposed to do. Otherwise what's the point? " Too many hypocrites policing each other, all in the name of "respect". More like Control. All I see is ego and excuses. Most of these so-call witches couldn't rid themselves of a basic troublesome entity. Too focused on themselves and how they appear to others. You are one of my S eiðkonas and Völvas, others opinions on that matter be damned . " The other day, I was behind a motorcyclist all decked out in protection. They were aware of their surroundings...

Some Quick Storm Protection Magic

On Tuesday night we had a strong violent storm blow through.  Hard heavy rain that might have been hail--I couldn't tell because it was too dark.  Normally, when I'm aware of severe storms heading towards us, I petition the Storm and Home Kindreds for protection.  But on Tuesday, I was focused on photo albums.  It wasn't until the hard rain and loud thunder hit that I realized what kind of storm we were dealing with.   I gave offerings and then I faced the strong storm slamming our trailer.  I quickly grounded and centered myself and locked in.  Hands up, I felt the shield around our home, and I also tapped into the storms energy.   I galdred the runes of Thurisaz, Othala, and Algiz.  Thor, Home, Protection.   Then I said, " Kindreds and Spirits with our best interests at heart, I ask for protection over my family, our guest, our pets, and our home from this storm.  As it is asked, as it is willed. So shall it b...

Shake Rattlin Trance

For the last few weeks, I've been studying and practicing a bit of ecstatic posture--which is holding a posture, often related to a Deity, Spirit, or Energy, and trancing/journeying often to the beat of a rattle and/or drum.  I have experience with this work already, but since the group that I was practicing with online no longer has Facebook Lives (I'm also not on FB anymore), I haven't done it in a while.   Until the end of summer.  I was first looking at postures in the book that I'm reading, as well as practising with my statues and figurines, and looking at Norse depictions and statues of the Gods and Spirits.   Some successes and fails.   This past week, with cooler evening temperatures, I've been going outside.  On Apple Music, I've found some shamanic rattling and drumming that I like for this work.  I just put in my earbuds, take a sitting posture, and press play.   In years past, my most intense journeys have been wit...

My Oracle Path and Personal Pantheon

I’ve been practising eclectic paganism and experiential witchcraft since 1994-95. I was a Wiccan too, from ages 11-13/14. As an incest survivor, I left that path because I didn’t like the incestious nature of the Wheel of Life myth (at the time, I didn't realize that mythology is rife with incest); nor did the Harm None law feel right to me. It felt too oppressive to me, that we couldn’t defend ourselves with magik—but this is a post for another day. I’ve been psychic all of my life, too. There are practitioners and psychics on both sides of my family, but I wasn’t taught by any flesh-and-blood family. Always spirits, even ancestors much later. When I was a child, I read those mythology and art books, and wished that those pagans and old gods were still around. They answered. The first deities who revealed Themselves to me were Sister Moon and Hestia. Throughout my childhood and teenage years, then came Hephaestus, Artemis, and Anubis. For most of my young adult life, it...

Horse Riding: A Seer's Reminder

I attended a Welsh Ritual on June 25th. This time, I was just an attendee. One of the other Druids was the Seer for this ritual. At the start of the ritual, I was feeling jittery and overstimulated. I stimmed, but the feeling wasn’t going away. Then I thought because some of the ritual was in Welsh, maybe I was picking up someone’s nervousness of attempting to speak the language. I shielded up and turned my camera off. The ritual started and the Seer started channeling Morfran and telling His story. I realized that what I was feeling was spiritual. I tried grabbing my pendulum and realized that I didn’t really have control over my hands. Someone was trying to come through, trying to possess me without my consent. If you’re new around here, I’ve been practicing consensual possession for a few years now, where I allow certain entities to enter my body and either partially or fully possess me to answer questions for people. This is something that I need to prepare for—before an...
