Resources on Trance-Possession, Psychic Abilities, and Mediumship

After reading The Witches Bible, which was long and dry, I wasn't sure about this book. As an Oracle/Seer, trance-possession is one of my fav subjects, and I've actually been enjoying it.

When I started on this oracular path, it was lonely. I knew there were others like me, but damn yall were hard to find! I even contacted local/online shops and pagan/witch groups and was treated like it was some top secret club and I wasn't invited. The questions that various people asked kind of felt like an interrogation, too. The atmosphere was chill, until I asked about trance-possession. It was weird. I understand this is serious work, but damn, lighten up. It almost made me stop looking for other people like me. Felt like high school all over again.

I had these abilities, and I wanted a human support/study group, but I just couldn't find anyone. The only book that was recommended was Trance-portation by Diana Paxson*. Don't get me wrong, I devoured the three oracle books that she wrote. But I wanted people to talk to without it feeling like I wasn't "cool" enough or that I was a fraud. I wanted to know about their experiences, and if they were relatable to my own. I just wanted a community. I don't belong to a tradition that teaches trance-possession, and I can't afford a human teacher, either. I'm primarily taught by my Kindreds, which I'm grateful for, but having a human community is necessary, too.

Once I learned of the various terminology for this type of work, I was able to find other books, like Lifting the Veil, which is easily one of my favorite books on the subject so far.

I eventually found others like me by sharing my experiences. Some of these people are my chosen family now. We share our experiences and resources. We practice with/on one another and bounce ideas. Vent. Heal. Support. Grow, and become better at what we do. I love my chosen family of wyrdos and practitioners.

If you're interested in trance-possession or mediumship/channeling, here are some books that I've read and books that have been recommended to me (I haven't read them, nor really looked into them just yet). If you know of other books about psychic abilities, mediumship, and especially trance-possession, please comment leave a comment!  I'd prefer books that are intermediate and advance levels if they're available.

Also if any books/authors are problematic with proof, I'd appreciate that too.

Thank yall for your support,

- Priestess Oracle Kristy "Foxlyn Wren" Tackett

**As of May 7, 2024, I've become aware of certain allegations concerning Diana Paxson.  There have been talks that she's been removed as a Clergy member from The Troth.  I haven't done a lot of research about it as I'm not sure of what sources are trustworthy right now, and I'm waiting for something official to come out about it.  Given how much her books have helped me over the years, I'm shocked and deeply saddened, and like many, I'm hoping it's not true.

Then again authors, teachers, and clergy are people and are not infallible.

But until I know for sure certain, I will be removing her books.
