Practice Makes Better

Help, I think I have a problem...I keep merfolkifying my friends.  I have more in the works...lol North Carolina Lures by Foxlyn July 10, 2026 At least I'm arting more, getting more practice in. Working more on smiles, noses, expression, turned heads, lighting, shading, and blending. This morning, I saved this large beautiful moth from my cat and ended up taking one of my best moth photo--bug photos, if I'm honest. By Foxlyn July 12, 2026 Super chill moth that I had to encourage to walk onto that wood.  Thank you Nature Spirits! --------- Thanks for the support! Face to the Sun. Trust in Joy. Lake Mermom Self Portrait

After studying the water of the local lake and some underwater shots of fish from other Ohio lakes, I realized that from a distance, lake water looks bluish-green with white sun reflections.  Swimming in the water it looks brown, from the sand kick up.  If the water is calm and sun is shinning, the water ranges from green to teal and blue-gray, some brown and such.   I also studied channel and flathead catfish, and then started sketching... Lake Mermom by Foxlyn June 4, 2026 She's on her back, looking up at potential prey.  A better smile than the last Mermom.  Even though Merfolk have no shame (why would they?), since I planned on sharing this, I covered the boobs.   Which...mer-boobs.  I go back and forth on, because breasts are used to feed young, so it bothers me when aliens, like reptilian females, have breasts--purely for the sexual satisfaction of humans.  Like Yuajta--Predators--makes no sense why this RETIPLIAN ALIEN has ...

My Mermaid Alter Ego - Mersonal?

Today I finally got the inspiration for my first mermaid piece, inspired by me.  My long time swimming name "Orca" has been retired and replaced by "Mermom".  All of those days spent drawing myself in university resulted in this... A little more Come Hither than intended (although fits, kind of merfolk MO--lure in and devour--as hubby excitedly commented, "Oh shit, I'd be your first victim!"), and I was trying to smile, but I haven't figure out how to zoom in for tiny detail without accidently deleting the rest of the image...like half of this picture (had to redo that tail twice).   I am happy with the nose, although again, if I had more control with zooming in, I could make it look better with shading and highlights. Also I realized that the sun's position and the highlights and shadows don't line up. Especially with the tail partially blocking the sun.  Everything lined up...until I deleted half of the picture. Well, things for next tim...

Blessed Midfall and Midspring!

Last month, I came across a drawing challenge on Bluesky (I have a personal account on there, not a HFO account), called Nestober25 by @MarikaPaz Illustration.  In my journal, I participated, by drawing small quick sketches with exaggerated angles and perspectives, sans erasure.  As well as only drawing from my brain, which I struggle to do.  I can draw what I see with no problem, but I've always struggled with drawing from my imagination.  So I challenged myself with Nestober. This is what came of it.  I only missed one day due to artist block, even through the depression I suffered last month (and a little today).  ----------------------------------- Nest Tea Flame Nook Dew Companion Luck Stall Wish Kindred (trying to remember the ADF Kindred Sigils) Gloom Wings Sugar Sword & Star Grimoire Float Darkness Comfort Journey Ritual Apothecary Mage Slug Howl Acorn Embrace Bell Haunt Lighthouse Not too bad for someone who doesn't draw as regularly as I...

Fox and Snake

I accept trades and cash when I do psychic readings. For non-local/online trades, I usually direct them to my Amazon Wish List, while for local/in-person trades, I accept other forms of trade, like books, coffee, pizza, and such. On instagram I was messaged by an artist about trading art for a reading. I'm really glad that I did. The artist, Cameron of @snakecharmerart was easy to talk to and really nice. I already followed them from a Lokean group we're in, because I loved their vibrant images of Loki. They asked what I was interested in, and I said something bright and colorful, with Loki and/or a Fox. Here's what they made for our trade: I absolutely love this picture. I'm eager to add it to Loki's shrine. Again, thank you so much, Cameron! Go show em some love, yall! <3
