I practice Ancestral Veneration all year long. For me, a handful are usually around year round. Around this time and around May, the spirit activity amps up as more spirits come to visit and also seem to have more strength in how they let us know they're around.  This year, I did something a little different to honor my mom...which is weird to say because she and I had a really rocky relationship and she doesn't even have a place on the Ancestral Shrine. At the same time, my mom wasn't a gamer, but was a great designer who was proud of her house.   I love Halloween, it's the best time to find props and masks for rituals and magik.  Take em home, cleanse, bless, enchant, and dedicate. I am a fan of antlers and horns, and I've always wanted a ritual headdress with them (every since I saw a togruta [Star Wars], I've always wanted their montrals and headtails as spiritual garb).  Spirit Halloween had a great horn selection, but also a bit pricey or they just looked better with hair or wigs.  I don't have any nice fun wigs yet.  I was hoping to find a better deer antler mask or headband--better yet reindeer antlers (there were a couple, but they didn't look very nice).  For the last few years, since learning about the Reindeer Mother, every Yule I do a ritual honoring Her and Elen of the Ways.  I've been wanting to wear reindeer cow antlers for my fall and winter rituals.   I've found beautiful reindeer cow antlered headdresses on Etsy, Amazon, and other places, made by hand by other spiri...

 Blessed Ancestor's Day, Samhain, All Soul's Day, Feast of the Dark Ones, and Day of the Dead; Happy Halloween, yall!   As cliche as it is for this day to be a witch's favorite holy day, it is mine, too.  Today also marks the 11th anniversary of my handfasting!  Been married for 11 years, yall!  11 mostly happy years.  The secret for us has been learning to listen to each other, being willing to heal ourselves on our own and together, having healthy boundaries, and when a problem pops up, instead of just bitching about it to our friends, try talking to each other first.
