My Inner Children

Content Warning: Eating Disorders, Abuse, Addictions, Body Shaming, Suicide Good Sunday, yall.  Today I've decided to show off my Healing Altar, or my Arete Altar.  Arete is a Hellenic Pillar meaning to be your best self, which is the focus of my healing magiks and shadow work.  Heal the mind, heal the body, heal the spirit.  Heal, become empowered, strong, kind, and confident.  Learn what it means to be better and how to be my best self. This altar has different entities and energies represented on it, such as: Green Tara the Obstacle Remover Kuan Yin the Merciful and Compassionate Shiva a God of Destruction Eir, Norse Goddess of Healing and one of Frigg's Maidens and Odinn's Valkyries Mother Mary Mary Magdalene Goat for Dionysus, a God of Moderation, Addictions, and a Liberator A Fox for Loki the Shapeshifter and Chaos Navigator  Hekate, Protector of Children and Goddess of Witches Medusa, Dark Feminine Energies, Avenger of the Sexually Abused Purif...

Blessed Solstice and Strawberry Moon!

In my family, we celebrate the High Days for three days.  Yesterday we saved a Gray Treefrog from a scorching death, we had Bdubs for dinner, and we caught lightning bugs in the evening.  We have more planned this weekend. A Gray Treefrog I didn't know we had Treefrogs in Ohio This little dude was green with yellow on its legs, and kind of reminded me of the throw that I'm working on. I'm also participating in a Make-a-Long in a fiber artist Facebook Group by Devin Hunter and Arin Murphy-Hiscock called  Fiber Spirit .  The MAL is focusing on Manifest, thus whatever we're making has to manifest something.  It started yesterday and ends on August 1st. I got some yarn from a friend a couple of weeks ago and it had 6 crocheted patches in it.  So I made more, with the intention of having Sunna bless it on the Summer Solstice with the overflowing positive energies of joy, good health, and abundance.  Each piece was made with those intentions.  Yes...

Happy, Safe, & Gentle Pride Month!

TW/CW: My LGBTQ+ Pride Story This is a Pansexual Pride Blanket that I started on July 28, 2019 and finished on March 10, 2023. It wasn't supposed to take me that long. I flew through the pink, but when I got to the yellow, I slowed down significantly, because it's just one solid block of color and it bored my ADHD. Because of that, the yellow is only 2 skeins. Overall, the blanket is made from 9-10 skeins of yarn, and is approx. 80x40 inches. It's not straight (HA!) by any means, and it tapers, but it's a favorite blanket around the house, one that I specifically pull out of storage for the month of June. I'm not sure if it is finished. Originally I wanted to put a Bisexual Flag border around it, but I wasn't able to afford the yarns for that part at the time. I still may make a bi pride flag blanket. Then I thought that if I do that, then I join them together as one massive pride blanket! Why bi, when I have a pan flag blanket? Well, because I used ...

The Imposter Wound

I saw this meme this morning and it got me thinking... I do this with my Shadows, too. I see them both as Wounded People and wounded parts of me that need to see that failure is okay and so is trying. I've had to work for all of my skills and knowledge--nothing came easy. If I let my Shadows bully me out of trying, I don't even know that I'd be here today. For me, it helps to see these Shadows as separate people, while knowing that they are me, too--they're not my enemy, just parts of me in need of healing and friendship. Hm, what to name my Imposter Syndrome, other than Imposter? I usually just see all of those people--mostly family--who said that I was too stupid, weird, crazy, fat, or just couldn't do things because of my neurodivergence's or traumas.  I also see the art teachers and peers at Wright State University who said that my work was mediocre and that I had no business being in the art fields.  I did have a couple of great art teachers, though.  One ...

Honeysweet Ritual & Potluck

Yesterday was the first time I hosted an in-person public ritual. (For privacy purposes, I will not post photos of attendees.) Honeysweet Ritual & Potluck - July 30, 2022 - Delaware State Park. Celebrating Bee Deities, The Melissae, and the sweetness in life. Hosted by Rev. Foxlyn Wren. Gluten-Free Hexagon Cake with vanilla buttercream.  The squares around it are honey cakes.  I couldn't find Bit o Honey candy, so I made my own.  It was soooooo yummy! Honeysweet Altar. A sphere was cast with heartbeat drumming and visualization. I led the group in grounding and anchoring , and inviting our Guests (Bee Deities, Melissae, Ancestors, Guardians) to the Rite. I drummed, while everyone gave offerings of flowers, birdseed, seeds, and nuts. I taught about what Honeysweet was, and taught everyone how to make origami bees filled with words, symbols, and energies of gratitude, love, and sweetness we wanted to draw in our lives to help us through the upcoming dark months, ...
