Solstice Omens

Mornin! The Kindreds are saying,  Enough messin around, let's do a reading! They've picked Fairy Tale Fortune Cards by Liz Dean and Bev Speight. With the pendulum, I ask, "Message or Blessings?  Yes for Message, No for Blessings.  Circle for both." Message . "The Kindred three?" Yes . Blessed Solstice and Happy Father's Day

If yall observe.  If not, I hope you have a good weekend. It's been busy here.  A week ago I went swimming with the family and all week long I've been feeling that mermaid energy.  Must be them flippers or just me loving to swim.  I've never really been into merfolk--in high school I used to make a bunch of mini mermaids and fae out of sculpey, but that's about it.  I also have a mer-form in the astral, but I rarely use it.  I usually just shift into whatever fish or whale, ya know?  I've been indulging that energy by looking at artwork, swimming tails, playing with my merfolk families in Sims 4 , watching real merfolk actors, and shapeshifting trance work.   I've also been playing around with Procreate and making little artworks for interesting animals I come across, like the two foxes that came across my path, a lightning bug that explored my entire hand, and a chubby wobbly raccoon who ran towards the woods yesterday evening.  I...

High Day Healing Blanket Series

I love crocheting blankets in the winter, so cozy!  Well when it's actually cold; it was 65f yesterday, and today it's 19f but feels like 1f with the crazy winds.  I've been working on a High Day Healing Blanket series since 2023.  Midwinter (Feb1; kids helped with this one) Spring Equinox (IP) Summer Solstice (a friend helped with this one) Fall Equinox (IP) Winter Solstice (IP; using a log cabin square quilt design).     For Midspring (May1), I'm planning on making a bouquet blanket, and I'm learning how to make shapes, so I can make a beehive patchwork throw for Midsummer (Aug1).  I don't have anything planned yet for Midfall (Nov1)--maybe a big ole jack-o-lantern or something?  I still gotta finish a couple of these other ones first. Hail the Hearth, Home, and Family Kindreds.  🔥 Thank yall for the support! Face to the Sun. Trust in Joy. Follow the Bees... - Priestess Foxlyn

Ritual Reflection

June 22: I just performed the Summer Solstice Ritual with my family. I wrote it in ADF Norse Hearth Culture style, using a script on the Members-Only (I believe) Norse Ritual page. Of course I tweaked it a little bit with my own stuff and stuff that I’ve been using from other ADF sources. Overall, the ritual went okay, but it felt rushed because of some of the excerpts that I copied just didn’t read well—especially the Opening the Gates parts. Here’s my script . When I read the script in my head it sounded fine. But when I read it aloud with my family today it was difficult. Didn’t read right. I don’t know if that’s just the writing style or if maybe I copied it down wrong—because when I copied it from the webpage, it formatted weird on my word document. Or maybe I’m just not used to that style? That and it was just too wordy—kennings tend to be. As a Dyslexic (and probably my other neuro shit) I’m just not a fan of wordy, flowery poetic language. I like reading poems…...

Blessed Solstice!

Be you in the Northern or Southern hemispheres.   Let me tell you what, the Weather Deities are brining that summer heat this weekend.  It's supposed to be in the upper 90's!  Can't say that I'm looking forward to those temps.  However I would love to go camping soon.  Maybe next year, we'll plan ahead and book a site and invite some of our other camp-happy friends for a Solstice Party?  Find a place with a swimming beach--there's one near us, too.  I'm just not a big fan of crowds, especially if we're swimming with our kids.  We'll figure it out. My husband's not much of a camper, so maybe we can gather friends and/or family and rent a cabin near a beach?  I haven't done the cabin thing since I was a teenager. I'm just tired of being a homebody.  I'm in my 40's now and I want to go camping, darn it. Last night, on the Solstice Eve, I put out a fully enclosed queen-sized mosquito netting outside, and me and two of the kids spe...

Blessed Solstice and Strawberry Moon!

In my family, we celebrate the High Days for three days.  Yesterday we saved a Gray Treefrog from a scorching death, we had Bdubs for dinner, and we caught lightning bugs in the evening.  We have more planned this weekend. A Gray Treefrog I didn't know we had Treefrogs in Ohio This little dude was green with yellow on its legs, and kind of reminded me of the throw that I'm working on. I'm also participating in a Make-a-Long in a fiber artist Facebook Group by Devin Hunter and Arin Murphy-Hiscock called  Fiber Spirit .  The MAL is focusing on Manifest, thus whatever we're making has to manifest something.  It started yesterday and ends on August 1st. I got some yarn from a friend a couple of weeks ago and it had 6 crocheted patches in it.  So I made more, with the intention of having Sunna bless it on the Summer Solstice with the overflowing positive energies of joy, good health, and abundance.  Each piece was made with those intentions.  Yes...

The First Day of Summer Will Soon Be Here

(Copy/paste from my Druidry Blog ) The Summer Solstice is in a couple of days and I'm excited. I've been feeling the Norse Solar Goddess Sunna poking at me over the last few months. I'm working on a kid-friendly ritual to honor Her with my family, without the wasps and sudden possession this time! Yes, last year, I hosted a Summer Solstice ritual with a local group (before I joined ADF).  We had the ritual in a shelter at Delaware State Park (Ohio) and I was unknowingly standing under a wasp nest that was beneath a sign.  I was stung 5 times--once on my thumb and 4 on my thigh.  Some of the attendees were surprised by how I handled it.  I wasn't crying, cursing, or hating the wasps or myself.  After some ice and a few minutes to sit, I just moved the altar and continued.  Don't get me wrong, it hurt!  But whether I was sitting or performing the rite, it'd still be hurting, so I decided to go on with ritual that I had worked so hard on planning....

Happy Pride Month!

🦊 🏳️‍🌈 💗 💛 💙 Card draw from the Pride Tarot. Dionysus steps forward for today's message: 9 of Pentacles, 3 of Cups, Judgement Love and celebrate life, support and embrace your community, however that may look and be. "Lift" yourself and each other up, especially when ones fallen...or perhaps have never been outside of that dark pit. This is a time of joy, remembrance, honoring, and acceptance. 🌈
