In yesterday's post, I talked about Spring Equinox with the family . Because that post was getting long, I decided to save the Community Reading for today. Also I've got some thoughts about Eostre. On Bluesky, I saw a post from someone who said that Ostara wasn't Irish Celtic (specified on my end, because the Celts weren't just in Ireland, there were tribes all over Europe, and they had different deities), and they gave an Irish holy day instead. They're right (if you're someone who wants to stick to one hearth culture), I'm not sure what language Ostara is (because the Wiccan Wheel of the Year mixes cultures together), but the main spring goddess associated isn't an Irish one, but a Germanic one: Eostre ("Yow-str"). Now there's also some debate about whether or not Eostre is a real goddess, or whether She's ancient or modern . I don't keep up on the arguments because I don't care. Just because something isn't ancient...
