Blessed Full Moon: A Message from Manannán mac Lir
I’ve been reading Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer, and yesterday’s chapters were heavy about Reciprocity - a concept that’s already a big part of my spirituality, and even bigger in ADF Druidry. Reciprocity - Ghosti - Hospitality - Gebo - Exchange - Gift for Gift - Never Taking More Than You Need - Giving Back - Energy Exchange. Giving because it’s right. Giving because it’s kind. Giving in gratitude. Not expecting anything back, no eye for an eye, and definitely not to gloat or for performance.
Giving from the heart.
Today is a full moon. And each moon I have certain sacral and pastoral duties to perform.
I’ve taken the month’s offerings outside for the Kindreds (Ancestors, Nature Spirits, Godden) and Spirits All. I always bring extra cornmeal for the Nature Spirits—fresh offerings for allowing me to do my work. Later I’ll also be making cornmeal porridge for the House Spirits and Guardians, and giving blood to Freyja, my Gyðia Seiðkona spirit guide, and to my Spirit Stick.
When I do, each time I say, “Kindreds and Spirits All, I ask that you accept these offerings. As I show my love and gratitude for all that You’ve done, do, and continue to do for myself, my family, and community. May these offerings strengthen You and o/Our relationship.”
May, command. Hope, not expectation.
Reciprocity. Ghosti. Gebo.
Of course, outside of offerings, I do other things for show my love and care for our Seen and Unseen Neighbors, Friends, and Family. Sacral and Pastoral duties.
As I gave my offerings, my gifts to the Kindred and Spirits All, one stood at my back and whispered in my ear not words, but a vision of divination. I scooped an extra offering for Manannán mac Lir.

From Manannán mac Lir: You’re not dumb. No overthink. Healthy questions to ask yourselves. What are your dreams? What is the Bigger Picture? Look it up if you don’t understand. No shame in ignorance, only in willful and lazy, hive mind ignorance. No personal attacks. No main character syndrome. A star in a sea of millions, billions, infinity. You may be the star in your own life, but you must have self awareness to know that you aren’t the only star who lights up earth’s night sky. The world is not weighing on your shoulders alone. Just your own personal problems in your life. The world is bigger than you. What you may want for the world is not your decision. There are many other wants, desires, and needs. Many other wishes and hopes and prayers and spells. Many other potential outcomes and possibilities. This world is a complex masterpiece in motion. We, the artists, are still brainstorming and editing, wiping old ideas away for newer ideas. This is bigger than you alone. The world does not revolve around you. Things must happen. Pieces must fall into place. What you think is right or wrong doesn’t matter in the Bigger Picture. You are not in control. Only of your own life. Look to your realistic, attainable dreams. The ones in your world, your star. Work towards bettering you, your family, your community. Others will do the same. Enough ripples can create waves. Enough waves can create tsunamis. Tsunamis can destroy, wiping the slate clean for new ideas. Potential. New Starts.

Let yourself heal. Give yourself permission to be true to yourself, not what you think others expect from you. No masking. No people pleasing. No doing what others thinks you should be. You are different, not less, as that book you just read said. You’ve always lived in the liminal, made liminal decisions. Even if they’ve alienated you from others. You’re already alienated, my Liminal Walker. It will always be this way, until more Liminal Walkers emerge which will not happen in this lifetime. Embrace your Liminal Self. I know you’re lonely, but do you really want to be living in others shadow? A “Perse-FONY” like that other book? Or do you want to stand in the light and cast your own shadow? One of protection, not for control and shame. You are a Torch Bearer, never forget this. Hold it high, Liminal Walker. Release those old people-pleasing selves. You were never meant to conform. You are Liminal. In between. Incorporeal. Let them die. Let them cross over to the Underworld, the Land of Apples. Before they becomes infectious, rotting flesh feeding, soul stealing zombies. Let them go, Love. And Grow.
