Blessed Full Moon & Happy Pi Day!

Crazy energies out there today, eh?

After talking to a student of mine, I've also noticed that there's been an increase in spirit activity, too.  I've noticed that spirit activity usually amps up around May 1st and November 1st.  Energies ebb and flow, sometimes those spirit waves rise and fall at other times, too.  Sometimes random, sometimes not.

All March long, I've been seeing and hearing more and more spirits than normal.  They're not spirits that I know.  I think some of them are Nature Spirits, which can be rather nomadic.  I'm not worried about their intentions, because I have layers of protection on my home and a great relationship with my House Spirits and Guardians.  They wouldn't just let anyone into the house.  The Gods might, They like to test me from time to time.

A couple of weeks ago, it was late at night, and I have hermit crabs (which are nocturnal and skittish, and ours weren't handled properly by their last owners, so they're way more skittish.  I like to give them their space at night), so at night, lights off, especially if everyone else is in bed.  The only light was coming from my office.

There's a bathroom at the end of the hallway.  I looked up--making sure that I didn't trip over the couch--and saw a short figure, wearing a black hood.  Grayish face, and a Grinch-like toothly creepy grin.  I acknowledged them, as I do with all spirits, and I went into my office, unbothered.  Often all a spirit wants is to be acknowledged.  A simple, "Hey, whatsup?" or "Hi" can go a long way.  They don't always want something from us or to deliver a message.  They exist here, too.  Sometimes they just want to be seen, heard, and acknowledged.  Or maybe to see if the rumors are true--a human that doesn't freak the fuck out when seeing a spirit!  lol (sometimes I still jump)

Yesterday, I was making myself some wings with melted swiss cheese, and in the reflection of the microwave door, I saw a dog-like spirit walking up behind me.  Back in the day that would've scared the shit out of me.  I started banning spirits from appearing in reflections.  But as I grew with my spirit work, abilities, and relationships, that particular fear faded, and I removed it as a ban.

So this hulking shaggy dog-like spirit came up behind me, and I said, "Aw, you want some cheese?"

In my head, I saw the answer Yes.  So I took some of the smelly cheese and put it on the family altar for them.

Sometimes they're just interested in what you got.  They can't consume the foods and drinks like we can, but there's still an energy--an energy of the food/drink, an energy exchange between us, and smells.  A lot of the offerings that I give are wildlife safe.  Sometimes the foods are consumed by animals and insects, and I am a believer that some spirits and Gods can take temporary corporeal forms, too.

Just me giving back to the environment in the forms of food, trash pick up, growing native plants, or teaching my kids to respect life, from the tiniest ant--those are also offerings that the Gods and Spirits love, too.  Teaching my kids about spirits and how to developed their abilities.  Helping others to communicate with the Other--all important work.  For too long the church and Hollywood has polluted our minds, teaching that spirits are bad and evil, or figments of our imaginations.  Which has caused a lot of disconnect between humans and nature, us and the spirits.  I give physical items and my service--my actions, teaching my kids and other people.

But sometimes all a spirit wants is some stinky cheese.  Not everything is heavy and serious.

Going back to the bathroom spirit, despite their appearance, I didn't sense anything negative.  Upon entering the house, the Greeter House Spirit hopefully went over the Spirit House Rules with them.

A couple of days later, my youngest said that they saw their oldest brother at the end of the hallway, behaving weirdly.  My eldest said that it wasn't them (he's not one to play pranks...plus I'm psychic, there's no point in trying to lie to mom).  It could be the brother that I miscarried in 2011.  He sometimes plays with his brothers.  My youngest wasn't scared or anything.  He said that the spirit ducked behind the coat rack and disappeared.

Since day one, I've been teaching my kids about spirits--inside and outside of the house--human, animal, non-human.  Telling them about our House Guardians and Spirits, and how protected the house is.  So if they see, hear, or feel a spirit inside, to not be afraid.  They're not bad.  They may accidently scare them, but they're not doing it to be mean.  I have strict Spirit House Rules regarding my kids that if a spirits doesn't follow, they're banished.  Accidents happen, though, but I leave the discernment up to the Guardians.

Spirits on the outside need to be treated like Strangers.  Stranger Danger still applies.  Spirits outside of the house can be very dangerous.  Not all of them like humans.  The Nature Spirits in this area know me, but relationships still need to be built and respected.  Not all of them are interested in working with me.  They have their own rules that I respect.  I teach my kids to respect, too.  There's a mutual understanding between us.  The Nature Spirits in this area are also very strong, and not folks that I want to be pissing off.  However, They know that I also have Allies on the Other, too.

Mutual respect.  Again, a respect that I teach my kids.  Some spirits tend to be more lenient towards children, but not always.

Start em young.  When I was little, the Kindreds taught me about the Other and Unseen Worlds and beings that sometimes overlap with ours, or exists beside it.  It would be years into my adulthood before I'd have human teachers and spirit worker friends.  I think it's important to have that balance of teachers for the different perspectives and skills you can learn and shared experiences.  All three of my kids are psychic, and luckily they have me and their own guides to teach them.  I'm pretty skilled in protection magiks, but Momma can't always be there to protect and guide them, so I hope I can give them the basic tools to start out.

When spirit energy starts amping up, I don't want my kids to be scared or feel helpless when spirits show themselves, even the "wild" ones outside of the house.  I want them to be confident and polite.  When politeness doesn't work, they need the confidence to know what do to if I'm not around or they can't just come get me.  To build up good relationships with their guides and allies--their personal Kindreds--and with the spirits of our home.  I've been teaching them about the importance of offerings and how to give them.

My kids are getting older, their abilities are getting stronger, and the Other is amping up, too.  Spirit Energy has changed.  My kids need to not be afraid.  Who knows, one day they might be Spirit Workers and Bridges, too.  Start em young.
