Dedicant Path Essay 8: High Day Recap

May 30, 2025: June 20, 2024 - Summer Solstice I know I attended Three Cranes Grove and a Virtual Fire Proto-Grove's Summer Solstice rituals, but I can't find my notes or photos! However, I also celebrated the First Day of Summer with my family, in ADF-style. For this ritual I honored the Norse Sun Goddess Sunna and the First Day of Summer. There was drumming, dancing, ribbon rings, and fun. We asked for blessings of joy and healing. I dedicated a small throw that I had crocheted to Sunna and in return she blessed it. This blanket was inspired by a quilt that Three Cranes Grove made that's blessed by Brigando every Imbolc. Inspired by them, I crochet myself a queen size blanket to be blessed by my Healers for the Fall and Winter months. Being too big and heavy for spring and summer, I put that one away and now pull out this throw that's blessed with joy and healing energies, too. Sunna was very present and gave us a joy boost, after months of mour...

Honoring Your Anger

Nov 11, 2025 -   Message from Freyja: " Honor your Angrboða--your anger, your grief, your "negative" human emotions--too.  They don't make you less grateful. " I just went through a really rough patch--October through November 12th.  Yes, even us clergy folk experience cycles of good and bad, ebb and flow.  No curses, no divine punishments, no whatever.  Sometimes shit just happens to good people. I was feelin okay, taking everything in stride.  Accepting everything, because what else was I going to do?  Anger and sorrow weren't going to solve anything.  Just accept the shit and figure out the next steps.  Around the 14th, I got hit with depression that just hung around, but the intensity didn't really change until the end of the month, of course.  That low point lasted until Tuesday, because it was just one thing after another.  A little bit a hope that was just crushed by more BS.  A little miracle suddenly squashed b...

Brigit: My journey with this Irish Goddess

Brigit. Brigid. Brigando. Brighid. Brigantia. Brigette. Brigitte. Bride. St. Brigid. Mama Brigette. Other spellings, other cultures. In this post, I’ll most likely be switching between the different spelling. Dyslexia or divine yada yada? *Shrugs* Such pronunciations of Breet, Bri-ghed,Bridge-it, and many others. I’m not going to go into a lot of detail about Her, because I’m still learning, too. But there’s a lot of resources, such as: Avalon, Annwyn. Celtic Goddess Grimoire . Milligan, Bryce. Brigid’s Cloak: An Ancient Irish Story . Daimler, Morgan. Pagan Portals -Brigid: Meeting the Celtic Goddess of Poetry, Forge, and Healing Well . Perilloux, Cairelle Crow (Editor). Brigid’s Light: Tending the Ancestral Flame of the Beloved Celtic Goddess . Weatherstone, Lunaea. Tending Brigid’s Flame: Awaken to the Celtic Goddess of Hearth, Temple, and Forge . Weber, Courtney. Brigid: History, Mystery, and Magick of the Celtic Goddess . Ah, another popular Goddess. A Jac...

Bane Magik

Someone in a forum posted a video about the forever ongoing topic of cursing and hexing.  If you've been in the online communities for a long time, you're probably aware of how these conversations go.   SHAME SHAME SHAME 3FOLDLAW HARMNONE SHAME SHAME HOLIER-THAN-THOU SHAME SHAME SHAME YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING YOU AREN'T ARE OF THE CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR ACTIONS DARK MAGIK BLACK MAGIK IS EVIL SHAME SHAME SHAME  NOT A REAL WITCH SHAME SHAME SHAME  ALL CURSORS ARE IGNORNANT OF CONSEQUENCES SHAME SHAME SHAME It's basically a controversial topic that's always going to get super fighty and dramatic--it's a Cauldron of Shit Stirring topic.  I typically stay out of those conversations and fights.  I was in them a lot when I was younger, but eventually I grew up and left those trolly ass, controlling forums.   How someone practices doesn't affect you.  A lot of the Harm None/3 Fold Law folks are giant hypocrites anyway--at least from my exp...

Dedicant Path Essay 7: Nature Awareness

June 8, 2025: Working with the spirits is important in seiðr, from magick to prophecy. It's important to be on good terms with the spirits, otherwise they won’t want to work with a person, will they? They are our neighbors, friends, companions, mentors, and protectors. You also want to stay on good terms with those who don't particularly care for humans, too. I try to stay on good terms with our incorporeal neighbors and roommates in different ways. Starting with the next generation. From a young age, we taught our kids about respecting animal life, even the creepy crawlies, like house centipedes and spiders. My husband has a fear of spiders, yet getting him to stop squishing spiders was actually easier than expected, because he understood how important it was to teach our kids the value of life. Not all bugs can go outside, especially when it's too cold for them. We either give bugs the chance to run on their own or we gently move them to a place out of sight and ...

Blessed Midfall and Midspring!

Last month, I came across a drawing challenge on Bluesky (I have a personal account on there, not a HFO account), called Nestober25 by @MarikaPaz Illustration.  In my journal, I participated, by drawing small quick sketches with exaggerated angles and perspectives, sans erasure.  As well as only drawing from my brain, which I struggle to do.  I can draw what I see with no problem, but I've always struggled with drawing from my imagination.  So I challenged myself with Nestober. This is what came of it.  I only missed one day due to artist block, even through the depression I suffered last month (and a little today).  ----------------------------------- Nest Tea Flame Nook Dew Companion Luck Stall Wish Kindred (trying to remember the ADF Kindred Sigils) Gloom Wings Sugar Sword & Star Grimoire Float Darkness Comfort Journey Ritual Apothecary Mage Slug Howl Acorn Embrace Bell Haunt Lighthouse Not too bad for someone who doesn't draw as regularly as I...
