Etsy Strike

Due to the Etsy's fee hike, there's an Etsy Strike.  Many shop owners, myself included, have put our shops on vacation from the 11th to the 18th.  Here is a petition with more information.

Etsy was already charging 23% in fees, as of today that number has increased to about 30%, which would force many shops to increase their prices to make profit.  My numbers may be way off,, someone said that they actually take like 50-70% of your profits, especially on large orders.  I don't really understand math due to my dyscalculia.  My husband was trying to explain all of the math to me when I was trying to figure out how to increase my prices earlier this month.

Either way, stirke!

Etsy sent out an email a few weeks ago, saying that the fee increase was due to new tools.  They also posted a reminder in the editing dashboard about the "1.5% increase".  Like, I don't care about the new tools and I promote myself, I should be able to opt out of those "new and improved" things.  I want my money, not new stuff that I don't even use.

(I am learning a lot about what the fees actually affect what and whom since this strike began.  From actual sellers, since I don't entirely trust Etsy, to be honest.  Some of what these seller say contradicts, some of it doesn't.  Of course some are just trolls stirring up shit, because losers ain't got anything else better to do with their time than to spread lies and drama.)

Plus Etsy used to be for small businesses and crafters.  Now there's so many large companies and shops that don't make their own stuff, as well as scammers, imposters, thieves, and bots.

I've been looking at going to other selling platforms, like Shopify or Square, but right now with how much I earn a month, I'd be losing money.  When I start getting more customers a month, then I'll switch.  We can't afford to be on more than one selling platform.  Unless of course, Etsy's bots close my shop because of this strike.  I've heard them shutting down legit shops for no real reasons.  Could be lies but could also be legit.  I mean look at Facebook's bots.  Out of control BS.  Can't trust a robot to use human judgement.

Etsy has definitely been profiting off of the pandemic.  Makin bank and abusing small business owners.

If you're interested in purchasing one of my products, you can check out my Facebook Hearth Fox Oracle and message me.  I accept paypal and venmo.  I do not have a shop set up on FB, and I don't know that I will because I despise FB, but it's also where most of my customers come from.

As always my services are available, and I accept paypal, venmo, and trade.  Click the link!
