I have two messages from the Spirits today. One falls in line with Persephone's message about resting this season: Serpent Energy is calling. What are snakes doing in my neck of the woods? Preparing for winter. Going underground, into dens, caves, hollow trees, preparing for brumation. Ground and rest. " Brumation, not Hibernation ," Serpent whispers. The other, I woke up to this morning: " Find empowerment in being the monster in their mythologies. Unlike the monsters in those stories, you will not be conquered ." - Hearth Foxlynx

  Greeting yall!  Today is the first day of the Dark Moon’s three-day phase.  September is an important month for me, a month of observation.  What am I observing?  Why the descent of Dionysus, Ariadne, and Persephone into the Underworld.  Last month, during the grape harvest, Dionysus sacrificed Himself so that we may eat His body and drink His blood.  Thus, He’s made His way back down to the Underworld, and has resumed His role as Psychopomp (guide of the dead). As for Ariadne and Persephone, Their stories are very similar, except that the Minoan Myth Ariadne wasn’t forced to go to the Underworld like the Greek Myth Persephone.  She was a willing Psychopomp. According to Laura Perry, in the Mediterranean regions, this is a time when Ariadne returns to the surface to aid in growth—wild and domestic growth.  During this time, Dionysus guides His beloved Ariadne from the Underworld to our world.
