This past Saturday, I hosted a public Fall Equinox Ritual & Potluck at a local favorite park. Family-friendly and free, just like Honeysweet. It was a lot of fun. A lot of people showed up in the beginning, but weren't able to stay for the ritual, but I'm really glad that they came. We hung out and ate some really good GF Cheeseburger Soup. I also got a much appreciated lesson on how to use a park grill and grill corn on the cob. They're also a tea maker, so yall know I had to support my fellow local business owner. Rattles are space clearers, that can be used with other space clearers or by themselves. Bees are preparing for winter, by removing resource draining male bees from the hives and other debris. Fall cleaning to prepare for winter.
Once ritual began, I greeted everything and lead them in grounding between earth and universe, using energy from their heart centers.
Here I am drumming to cast sacred space. Nothing fancy, just a simple heartbeat. As I drummed, those gathered used that heart energy to create the protective sphere of protection, love, and inspiration around us.
After inviting our Spirit Guests, I drummed and they all gave offerings of sunflowers, mums, acorns, cookies, and leaves. The Gods, Nature Spirits, Guardians Guides, and Ancestors accepted them. (We also honored Ethical Farmers, Transporters, and Retail humans, too.)
I taught folks how to make rattles using plastic bottles and we filled them with acorns, fallen leaves, sunflower petals, mums, corn, and rice. Everyone had a lot of fun, especially the kids. Especially when we charged the rattle with the intention to clear away all that clouds our hives (yes, I connected this ritual to Honeysweet) and blocks us from that sweet nourishing honey.
So we created these rattles to help us clear out our hives, so we'd have easier access to our Honeysweets--the things that we're grateful for--our joys, successes, and goals--that may nourish us, and help us through our dark winters.
We charged the rattled by thinking of our intentions and shaking them! Dancing and playing! Letting go. I'm pretty sure all of the large park heard us on Saturday. We were quite loud, but very joyous!
Rattles charged, we dismissed the kids back to the playground, and I had everyone else think about what needed to be released, what needed to be cleared from their hives. Then I led them in a guided meditation. I took them up a tree of their choosing, up up up to the canopy. They were drawn in by a leaf. Watched how the tree released it. We shook our rattles for a few minutes, and they all saw what they needed to see.
Once the rattling stopped, we talked about what they saw to help ground them and try to make sense of their journeys.
Divination time with the Witch Runes. I asked three questions:
1) What to Shed: Communication - Shed your burdens by speaking.
2) What to Harvest: Sun - Harvest beginnings and progress.
3) What to Embrace: Harvest - Embrace your hard work, patience, and that which you reap this season.
Next came the Blessing of Food, Drink, and Tools. I received a vision of the Gods and Melissae pouring nourishing honey all over the table! It was beautiful.
Last, I drummed the heartbeat, while they popped the sphere around us, releasing that beautiful energy to the many gathered entities around us. One attendee said that they saw the Norse Goddess and Valkyrie of Healing, Eir, at one point!
We slurped up our energy cords and feasted on yummy corn on the cob, cabbage soup, apple cider, water, and a variety of cookies. Then free readings were given by and to attendees. I like to encourage those who come to my rituals to bring their tools and offer free readings, to practice and build up their confidence, and to help their community, too. Friendships were also strengthened and new ones made, which I love. I'm glad that I was able to provide the opportunity for these connections to be made!
One of the reasons why I do public rituals is to build community. Maybe people also experience things that they're not expecting, like being able to sense that raised energy in group or catching glimpses of Spirits and Gods?
I really appreciate everyone who came on Saturday, whether you were able to stay or not. I'm looking forward to next month's sabbat!
Thank you all for your support! I really do appreciate yall!
