Message from Dionysus - 6/11/22

"Be careful who you hate, it might be someone you love."

I felt this phrase yesterday, among family. Children talking about how disgusting gay people were, with a lot of vitriol in their little voices. Parents embarrassed--the same parents who taught them to think like that. Kids don't know about me, but their parents know that I'm part of the LGBTQ+ community.

I texted a friend about my situation and how much of a hypocrite that I felt like. How inauthentic I felt for not saying anything and being there around them.  How angry and hurt I was, hearing these children speak these cruel words--words of their parents.  Afraid, not for me, but for others' futures---other LBGTQ+ kids.  I know kids can be cruel, but these are young children, why are they speaking like that?  Why is there so much hate in their voices?  Why is there so much hate in their parents?  These people who've laughed and smiled with me.

This morning, I pulled out the Pride Tarot to speak to Dionysus about it.  My feelings, my fears, and moving forward.

I ended up not needing the deck as Dionysus spoke through me.  Well, typed through me.  Automatic typing...anyway.

Am I being an hypocrite staying around that family?
"You really need to look up what a hypocrite is, Hearth-Priest. That's not you."

"It's understandable to feel angry and hurt in that situation. But you're not being fake or inauthentic. Neither is anyone else who finds themselves around toxic family. You're learning to deal with these situations. You're right, you can't keep running away and hiding. You're a Priest--certain standards, role model. How will you teach your children to be better humans, if you cut and run when uncomfortable? Water, cups. Processing Emotions. Air. Mental Processes. They were embarrassed, but you stood tall and strong. Show them the example of being right in your beliefs. In your being. They question, you do not. Let them falter and dare to question. That's one of the reasons why I like you, you question your own thoughts and beliefs in a good way. Check yourself, question questionable thoughts and actions. Unafraid to unlearn. Unafraid to question even the Gods. Unafraid to challenge. The desire to truly grow and evolve. The desire to influence and inspire through those who seek change and healing around you. You kept your temper even. Didn't make a scene. Handled it well. Good teachers for there are those around you who need that example. Not turning the other cheek, do not misunderstand. Too much hate in this world--other ways of handling it without becoming a victim or victimizing yourself. I saw only improvement yesterday, and today. Feel hurt, be true to your feelings. Emotional intelligence. Search for a way to move forward. Progress. Tolerance. Acceptance. Moving forward with grace, but standing firm and standing tall. Standing up. Teach your children to be kind and strong, so that they may stand up for you and others next time."

My children were present.  They disagreed with the other children, but they were quiet, too.

What can I do about it moving forward?
"Question. Learn. Teach." Dionysus shows me the Hierophant. "You are a Warrior, but of a different sort. Not how many modern humans tend to view Warriors. Healer. Warrior. Teacher. Priest. Question. Unlearn. Teach. Remember you are the thorny stem that holds up the blossoming flowers, those who have the grace, knowledge, and charisma to speak, sing, and change verbally. Be your boys' stem, raise them up strong and true to the sun, to the rain, to the fresh air. Dropping seeds for the next generation. In other words, keep doing what you are doing. It is needed and is it enough. Strive. Do not sink, not until it is your time to wither of age and health. You may not be remembered as a hero, but how many teachers are? You are remembered by your teachings and by the teacher and heroes you inspire."

"We will help you fortify your defenses and offenses. Question. Unlearn. Learn. Teach. A kind of Warrior Teacher," Dionysus chuckles.

This message is for anyone who feels touched by these words.
