Divination with Dionysus - 7/13/21

For some folks, the 13th of the month is sacred to the Demi-god Dionysus, an entity with roots in a few cultures, including Minoan. He is a God of wine, moderation, theatre, fertility, pleasure, frenzy, madness, inspiration, nature, domestic harvest, liberation, and releasing inhibitions. In some myths, He is Zagreus, son of Persephone and Zeus. Dismembered by Titans and reborn. In other myths, Dionysus is the Son of the Mighty Zeus and mortal Semele. Husband of Ariadne; lover of others. Maenads are His female devotees. His retinue is comprised of Satyrs, Nymphs, and other natural daimons.

Dionysus is more than some frat boy god of drugs, booze, and rock n roll, as many know Him as. There are many misconceptions surrounding Dionysus. For some people, He’s helped overcome their addictions, and continues to aid with their battles. To some folks of the LGBTQ+ communities, Dionysus is a Patron God. He’s certainly helped me to explore and accept my own bi/pan sexuality, releasing a weight that I didn’t realize that I was carrying. I and others also associate Dionysus with mental illness, as He’s guided us to treatments and healthy coping methods.

Aside from aiding me in deep healing and self-love, Dionysus is also one of my psychic teachers. He introduced me to automatic typing, drunk divination, and possessory trance. I am a grateful student and vessel.

- Jumper - 9 of Swords - Mental processes.  Trapped in your mind.  Anxiety.  Let yourself relax.  Face your fears and challenge your shame.  9's are completion, this cycle has or is ending.

- Drawn - The Starman - Freedom.  Liberation.  You have the keys and the knowledge to bring your goals to reality. Step outside of those restrictive walls and explore fertile lands.  Find a new place to lay down new foundations and build.  Be your true self.

- Drawn - 8 of Swords - Mental processes.  8's are about building on experiences.  Explore, recognized, and let go of everything holding you back.  Swords are about the mind, internal, mental struggles.  Listen to your intuition, let it guide you.
