Come have ritual and hang out!

---------------

On my path, the Dark Moon is the last day of the lunar calendar.  For those who're Hellenic Polytheists or those who work with Hekate may know this day as the Deipnon.  It is a time of purification of self and home.  A time to get your home ready for the new month, new energies, and new possibilities (if any of you follow my Book of Mirrors personal blog, you'll know that today is the first day of Berkana, the rune of renewal and potential!).

On Deipnons, my family likes to gather and take donations to the center, take our recycling to the dumpster, spiritually and physically deep clean our home, cut our hair, take purifying baths or drink detox teas, and we take out the past lunar cycle's offerings outside and refresh the dishes for new offerings.  I'll leave these offerings at a cross roads/path, and not look back, except to lock up for the night.

I also enjoy honoring and working with my ancestors and the spirits who live in these liminal spaces...I myself am such a being--a mortal living with one foot in and one foot out of the Other.  I honor my gifts and give gratitude to my Teachers and my diligence.

At the end of the Dark Moon's three day cycle, our home is fresh and clean, and smells lovely!  We feel pretty darn good, too!

Dark Moon message comes from Hekate, via The Liminal Spirits Oracle by Laura Tempest Zakroff:

Hekate, what is your message for the Hearth Fox Oracle Community on this Dark Moon?
"As above, so below."

  1. Top Card - Cedar - "Scent is a simple yet wonderous tool to use for our workings" (page 57).  Maybe clean your home with a scent that is pleasing to you?  These are rough times--Tower Times--let your favorite scent bring you peace, energy, and love.
  2. Bottom Card - Monkshood - "A beautiful and dangerous herb with ties to the Underworld.  It is an herb sacred to Hekate" (page 81).  "Take responsibility for all of your actions, one person's miracle is another person's curse" (page 82).  Be mindful of your power and honest with yourself and actions.

Blessed Dark Moon and Deipnon for those who observe!
