Since March is Women's History Month, today's Pick-a-Tool will be using a spread from Biddy Tarot (don't click the link until the end). If you don't identify as a woman, but would still like some prompts, you can easily change the pronouns of this spread to best suit you.
If you're a trans-woman, you're a woman, and you're welcome to participate if you'd like. Hearth Fox Oracle is an inclusive, progressive business. As long as you're not a bigoted asshole, you're welcome here.
If you're planning on participating below, don't click the link above yet. I don't want you to see the questions until the end.
What tool are we using today? Ooo, three oracle decks called:
- ROAR Oracle by MJ Cullinane - https://crowtarotshop.com/products/copy-of-pre-order-roar-oracle-estimated-release-mid-spring-2021
- Hedgewitch's Botanical Oracle by Siolo Thompson - https://siolothompson.com/botanicals
- Everyday Witch Oracle by Debra Blake - https://www.llewellyn.com/product.php?ean=9780738760322
Close your eyes and relax. Ask the Powers/Energies what you need to know for today, week, month, in general. Pay attention to any numbers, letters, or positions that may come to you, as this could be your intuition, guides, or energies directing you.
Pick what piles(s) draw you:
1) What do you love about being a woman? Strength and Determination, being able to see through the negativity and succeed, despite all of the ignorance directed at women about being the "weakest" of the genders.
- Vera Rubin - When the world told her that she couldn't be astronomer, she answered 'Watch me' and proved them wrong. Let the haters lose themselves in their own hate. Stay focused and keep pursuing your goals.
- Wild Rose - Clarity - Focus and see through the deceptions that will try to stop you, be it from other or yourself.
- Meditation for Peace and Serenity - Hestia-Vesta is focusing on the Magikal option of this card, which suggests that when you're in need of peace/a break, try making a lustral water, be it blessed by the moon, the sun, or even the energies of crystals or herbs. The author says that you can "add clean quartz or amethyst or rosemary to a glass of water with the intention of peace and serenity" (page 81). I suggest putting stones or herbs inside of a container with water that you plan on drinking or bathing with, not in the water. You can still charge the water with your intention and the crystal/herbs energy. Some crystals/herbs aren't good for our health--obviously I'm not saying actually consuming the objects, but some don't do well in actual water. Do your research on crystals and water, stone elixirs, and herbs. I prefer to not putting any stones or herbs in water that I plan on drinking, unless I'm 100% certain it's safe.
- Estee Lauder - "Anyone who wants to achieve a dream must stay strong, focused, and steady" - Estee Lauder. According to Cullinane, this card's energy is that of The Chariot in Tarot. When you get distracted from your goals, you don't wallow about it, you get back to business. I feel a lot of positive energy from this card. A lot of drive, too. Confidence.
- Fern - Growth - This card is the Death card in Tarot. It's all about necessary changes for growth. I saw a picture the other day that stated "Your comfort zone will kill you." I've come to call "comfort zones" "toxic zones". Zones that want to keep you safe from all dangers. Zones that keep you from living life and growing as a person. One of your great strengths is knowing when it's time to change. To clear away all that doesn't serve your growth. This is a great skill to have.
- Give Love - You don't take your loved ones for granted. They know how you feel about them, you're not shy to remind them.
- Shirley Chisholm - Without action, words mean nothing. Stop complaining and start planning and doing. You want to empower yourself, start being accountable and owning your mistakes. Start working through your pain, find a counselor or a therapist if you need help. Find a community to support your healing and empowerment journey. Stop whining and feeling sorry for yourself. Act. Do.
- Borage - Courage - As those who've made the decisions to heal and grow know, this path takes a great deal of courage and determination. You have it within you. Stop making excuses. Or when an excuse comes to mind, explore it. It is a legit reason or your comfort zone being its usual fearful self and keeping you trapped in toxicity? If you need to, this card suggest using borage in your magiks--really any herbs, stone, symbol that bring you courage. This journey will not be easy. Explore what aids you, and keep pushing. You have many strength to utilize. Take a look back at your life and see all you've overcome--some challenges that may have been greater than what you're facing now. You have the ability to heal and empower yourself. You just have to have that courage to say enough is enough. Seek support from your loved ones, chosen family, community. You don't have to go at it alone. What are you afraid of?
- Rebirth and Reinvention - Hestia-Vesta has selected the Magick option of this card. Water often symbolizes emotions, subconscious, healing, and renewal. Take a bath or shower to heal energy wounds and to wash away your old self. You can do this type of ritual as often as you need to. You can utilize bath safe herbs and stones, salts, and symbols if you'd like. I personally like to take showers with blessed epsom salt, and I pour it all over me to clear away energies that maybe aren't mine or that just aren't good for me. The water washes it all away, down the drain to be transformed into something useful. You can also enchant your regular hygienic products with intentions of clearing and cleansing, too. Give it a try and see if it helps you. Performing these rituals regularly, even if once a month, can greatly aid you in your journey to empowerment.
- Dion Fortune - See if a change of habits would be best for your life. This card asks if certain habits have become crutches for you--again, toxic comfort zones from the previous piles. If the same old isn't working, try something else, especially if it scares you. Obviously not talking about things that are dangerous to you or others. Maybe the thing that scares you is leading or having a voice--speaking your truth to others, standing up for yourself or others, enforcing boundaries, becoming a mentor, or just trying something new--a new hobby, joining a group, going to a protest. This card uses the example of using magik too much, instead of using communication--if you have a problem with someone, instead of putting them in the freezer or a jar of honey, try talking to them. You might be surprised.
- Juniper - Invigorate - Wake up, it's time to make some decisions! It's time to put those thoughts and plans into actions! To stop bickering and come together, form communities, and take a stand. Speak, inspire, and act. Talk to your communities, form splinter communities. Get your communities pumped! Empowered! Feel the love! Be the change you want, the change your communities need. Let's Gooooooo!
- Imagine and Envision - Not surprising after that last card, Hestia-Vesta has picked the Action option of this card. Express yourself through art and writing--or however you best express yourself. Dream about what you want to see in the world, what you want to be. If it's easier to write in a fantasy genre, do that. Hey...maybe even publish your works later. Art has done much to change our world and empower people. So maybe you're not the charismatic leader type who knows how to rally groups of people to march, but you can still be an important spark that inspires others to take action. Use your strengths.
5) What opportunities exist for all women of the world? "Frigg"
- Chien-Shiung Wu - Don't be afraid to question, to go against the norm and what's acceptable by society. Share and explore your thoughts and ideas. Challenge norms, especially if they're toxic and harmful to others. You have a voice, ideas, and dreams. Who knows, maybe one day, you'll inspire someone to be brave, determined, and compassionate.
- Trout Lily - Patience - This card makes me think of tarot's Knights. Those who charge into action, sometimes without plans. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. This card is asking you to be patient, don't be like the windy, fast moving Knights. Move slow like earthy Pages--make adjustments, regain your footing, come into balance, learn to see the bigger picture. Certain things have to fall into place first. I saw a Tweet the other day from Dr. Vassilia @JunoCounseling: "One of my hardest lessons as a trauma survivor was letting things happen in their own time. Having had no control over long spans of my life, letting go of control sent me into fight/flight. Yet, all the plans that worked out in their own time, turned out right." Like many women, I am also a trauma survivor, and yall I struggle with being patient, but I've been learning. After seeing this tweet, it kind of made sense to me. I often draw cards or runes that remind me to be patient. It will be time, but maybe you're not ready? Maybe you have some life lessons to learn or skills to gain? Experiments to run? Confidence to build? Or perhaps there are outside influences that need to take place first? I guess time will tell.
- Hibernation and Regeneration - Careful of burnout. Times are stressful for everyone right now. Tower Times, as Byron Ballard has said. Times of great change, stress, too. Lots of chaos and unrest in the world. Before you go turning that chaos into constructive chaos, take some time to chill. Take a nap, a bath, a walk, do something that gives you joy, whether alone or with people. Laugh. Smile. You can't pour from an empty vessel.
